Muscat – Iran launched one of its broadest waves of retaliation in weeks against US-linked military sites across the Gulf and neighbouring states, as Tehran accused Washington of killing civilians in a new round of strikes inside Iran.

Iranian attacks were reported against targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed drone strikes on US military bases in the United Arab Emirates.

The latest escalation came after US attacks on Iran killed at least 18 people, according to Iranian reports, including four at a wedding gathering in southern coastal city of Sirik.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society called on the International Criminal Court to investigate the strike, saying the reported civilian nature of the site raised “serious concerns” under international humanitarian law.

The organisation said four people were killed and 67 wounded in the wedding attack and warned that, depending on the circumstances, the strike could amount to a war crime.

Iranian authorities said seven others were killed at three locations in Khuzestan province, four IRGC personnel in Kermanshah and three Basij paramilitary fighters on Lavan island.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused US forces of deliberately targeting civilians, citing both the latest wedding strike and an earlier attack on a primary school in Minab.

Tehran’s retaliation extended across several US military locations in the region.

The IRGC said it launched a coordinated missile and drone attack on US military sites in Erbil in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region, claiming damage to maintenance facilities, warehouses and surveillance systems.

It also claimed attacks on Al Dhafra and Al Minhad bases in the UAE. There was no immediate confirmation from Emirati authorities.

Kuwait said it intercepted Iranian drones and missiles, while a drone strike caused a fire at a residential complex in Kuwait City. Authorities said the blaze was brought under control and no casualties were reported.

The IRGC separately claimed casualties in an attack on Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait, which hosts US forces, but the assertion was not independently confirmed.

Iran’s military said it targeted US bases and assets in Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq, putting Gulf states hosting American military facilities under renewed pressure as the conflict spreads beyond Iran’s borders.

The maritime front remains equally volatile. Saudi shipping company Bahri said two Filipino sailors were killed aboard the SIDR while the vessel was transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
