Muscat – Public Prosecution and the Supreme Judicial Council have issued clear guidelines regarding public donations, emphasising the importance of utilising licensed channels to ensure contributions reach those who genuinely deserve them. Citizens and residents are strongly advised not to respond to unauthorised fundraisers.

According to Article 299 of the Penal Code, inviting others to donate or collecting donations from the public without obtaining proper permission from the concerned authority constitutes a legal offence. Violators face penalties including imprisonment for three months, a fine of RO 600, or either of these punishments.
