Muscat – In a chilling crime that exposed a dark deception, two perpetrators exploited the widespread panic of the global pandemic to commit a brutal double murder in Oman. Driven by greed and the belief that valuables were kept inside a home, the main suspect planned the attack over two months, targeting a residence occupied only by a mother and her daughter. To gain entry, the killers purchased white medical coats, gloves, and masks, and forged identification cards to impersonate a medical team from the Ministry of Health conducting routine COVID-19 tests.

On the morning of November 1, 2020, the victim received a reassuring WhatsApp message announcing the fake medical visit. Trusting the deceptive white coats, the mother welcomed the supposed healthcare workers into her home. The perpetrators instructed the daughter to stay in her room while they separated the mother, asking her to lie down and close her eyes for the examination. Exploiting this vulnerable moment, they unleashed a brutal, savage attack involving sudden blows to the neck and violent suffocation.

The brutality escalated further when they turned their attention to the daughter, who grew suspicious as she realised the horror unfolding. Despite her desperate resistance and growing terror in her eyes, the perpetrators subjected her to relentless, savage brutality, multiple successive blows, and fatal suffocation until all life was silenced. Overwhelmed by the horror of what their hands had done, the killers placed the bodies under bedcovers, stripped them of their humanity by wrapping them in black bags, and transported them away in a vehicle.

The gruesome crime was uncovered days later when a resident reported a foul odour emitting from an abandoned vehicle, prompting swift intervention from the Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution. Through meticulous criminal investigation, evidence gathering, forensic medical reports, and identical consistent confessions from the accused, the chilling details of the brutality were laid bare. The Public Prosecution referred the case to the judiciary, where the courts delivered the ultimate verdict. Following an appeal, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence against the main accused and absolute imprisonment for an accomplice, bringing definitive justice to a deeply disturbing chapter.
