USA – United States President Donald Trump has announced the launch of an “unprecedented economic war” against Iran, coming just two days after Washington suspended negotiations with Tehran following a failure to reach an agreement.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, President Trump stated that no one gave Iran a greater chance to make a deal, expressing regret that the opportunity was squandered, and officially declared the strongest economic operations ever launched against any country.
He emphasised that this would constitute an economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale. Furthermore, the US President declared that any nation allowing its financial institutions, companies, corporate entities, airports, or government bodies to provide any form of support to Iran will face severe economic consequences.
During a press conference earlier in the week, President Trump confirmed that there are no ongoing or scheduled negotiations with Tehran, maintaining that the maritime blockade on Iran will continue with strong effectiveness.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the announced sanctions campaign, asserting that clinging to such failed policies will only bring further defeat and that economic terrorism threatens the global economy and sovereignty worldwide.
