Message of Ambassador of Pakistan on 80^th Independence Day

Eighty years ago on August 14, 1947, the unwavering commitment and indomitable courage of our forefathers led to the creation of Pakistan under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. On behalf of the Government of Pakistan and on my own behalf, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to my Pakistani brothers and sisters, living both in Pakistan and in the brotherly country of Oman, on the 80^th Independence Day of Pakistan.

For generations, Pakistan and Oman have shared a close bond anchored in common faith, rich cultural affinity and geographical closeness. Over the decades, the Pakistani expatriate community has made valuable contributions to Oman’s socio-economic progress. Today, this dynamic community of over 366,000 is continuing the rich tradition of proudly contributing to Oman’s development. The Pakistani expatriate community is also an asset in building greater mutual understanding and fostering lasting friendships between the two nations through stronger connections at people-to-people level.

It gives me great pleasure to mention here that recently, the Government of Oman very graciously accepted my request and agreed to the establishment of the first ever Oman-Pakistan Friendship Association (OPFA). I strongly believe that OPFA will contribute greatly in enhancing economic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Oman.

Pakistan-Oman bilateral political ties are characterised by frequent high-level contacts at the leadership level. Our Deputy Prime Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Oman, H E Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi in Manila on July 23, 2026 and discussed various avenues of cooperation in diverse sectors. I am confident that our mutually beneficial partnership in economic, trade, defence, science and technology, education, health and cultural spheres will continue to grow from strength to strength in the coming years.

Pakistan and Oman enjoy complete unanimity of views on various global and regional issues. Both countries support peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and negotiations and reject any attempt to enforce a solution through military aggression. This unanimity of views is a critical asset in our mutual efforts to peacefully resolve the crisis that has engulfed our region presently.

The spirit of extreme cordiality and brotherhood between our peoples, a healthy momentum in leadership exchange of views and desire on both sides to take the relationship to new heights has set the stage for Pakistan-Oman bilateral relations to take off. The future is very bright Insha Allah.

The year 2026 holds profound national significance for Pakistan from another related and important perspective, as it marks the 150th birth anniversary of our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Through his strategic foresight, unyielding integrity and resolute determination, he led the Muslims of the subcontinent to their cherished destination of an independent Pakistan.

Quaid-e-Azam envisioned Pakistan as a progressive, democratic nation anchored in equality, pluralism and fundamental rights for all citizens, regardless of creed, race or ethnicity. Protecting religious freedom, championing minority rights and empowering every Pakistani to drive national development remain the core of our national ethos. Today, Quaid-e-Azam’s enduring motto of ‘Unity, Faith and Discipline’ continues to serve as the guiding light for the entire nation in our march towards greater progress and prosperity.
