Muscat – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in partnership with WingTech, has announced the DroneX Summer Technical Programme to equip Omani students with practical skills in drone technology and support the development of future talent for the civil aviation sector.

The programme, which will begin on Sunday, is aimed at students in Grades 9 to 11 and combines classroom learning with hands-on training. It is designed to enhance students’ technical skills, promote the safe and responsible use of drones, and introduce them to career opportunities in aviation and emerging technologies.

Participants will receive training in three specialised tracks: drone operations, technical maintenance, and the design, assembly and flight of first-person view (FPV) drones. The programme seeks to provide practical experience based on industry best practices while encouraging innovation among young Omanis.

Implemented through a strategic partnership between the CAA and WingTech, DroneX is expected to help develop a new generation of skilled professionals capable of contributing to the future growth of the aviation industry.

Training will be held in two evening sessions at the CAA headquarters. The first session will run from July 12 to 23, while the second will take place from August 2 to 13.

The programme will conclude with a graduation and awards ceremony on August 17, recognising outstanding participants as well as sponsors and supporting organisations.

According to the CAA, the initiative reflects its commitment to nurturing national talent and keeping pace with rapid technological developments in the aviation sector. The programme also supports the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 by helping build a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and advanced technology.
