Salalah – The Court of Appeal in Salalah has issued a verdict convicting four citizens for the killing and illegal hunting of an Arabian Gazelle.

This animal is classified as a protected species under the first appendix of the Law on Natural Reserves and Conservation of Wildlife. The court sentenced each of the four individuals to six months imprisonment.

Furthermore, the ruling included the confiscation of all items related to the case, comprising the weapons, ammunition, and the vehicle used in the commission of the offence, while also ordering the defendants to pay criminal expenses.

The Environment Authority has reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring and protecting wildlife, stressing its intention to address environmental violations by strictly applying legal provisions against offenders.
