Muscat – Mohammed Al Barwani Satellites (MB SAT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telespazio France, one of Europe’s leading providers of satellite communications and space data services, to strengthen cooperation in the space sector and expand satellite communications services.
The agreement was signed during His Majesty The Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to France last week and aims to explore new opportunities in satellite communications while deepening collaboration between Oman and France in the space sector.
According to MB SAT, the partnership supports the digital economy objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and is expected to create new business opportunities across the Middle East and Europe. It also seeks to strengthen Oman’s position in the global space economy through strategic international partnerships.
Said Al Jabri, chief executive officer of MB LLC, said the agreement reflects the group’s strategy to diversify its investment portfolio and expand into high-growth, future-focused industries.
“France is a global leader in the space and satellite services sector, making it an ideal market for building strategic partnerships and accessing world-class expertise. At the same time, this collaboration aligns with Oman’s national aspirations to strengthen its position in the global space economy, while fostering local capabilities and creating long-term value for the Sultanate,” he said.
Ammar Al Rawahi of MB SAT said the collaboration would strengthen international partnerships and enhance regional capabilities in the space sector.
“Together with Telespazio, we are strengthening satellite communications solutions, services and applications while enhancing the region’s attractiveness for space partnerships and investments. It reflects the private sector’s commitment to supporting Oman’s national priorities and shaping a stronger regional space economy,” he said.
MB SAT said the partnership is expected to support the development of satellite communications services, promote innovation in the space sector and contribute to building long-term technical capabilities in Oman, while reinforcing cooperation between Omani and French stakeholders in the growing global space industry.
