Muscat – An exhibition showcasing the evolution of Omani visual arts and the country’s rich cultural identity has opened at the renowned State Tretyakov Museum in Moscow as part of ongoing efforts to promote Omani culture on the international stage.

Titled Pioneers of Omani Art, the exhibition has been organised by the National Museum of Oman and will run till August 16. It features 23 artworks by 17 prominent Omani artists, highlighting the development of the sultanate’s modern visual art movement across diverse artistic styles and techniques.

The exhibition presents works inspired by Oman’s culture, heritage, history and natural environment, reflecting themes drawn from daily life, architecture, ornaments, geometric patterns and Arabic calligraphy.

Among the standout artworks on display are The Shirt of Dreams 2 by Musa bin Omar Al Zadjali, Faces by Alia bint Ali Al Farsi, The Renaissance by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Adawi and Omani Women by Rabha bint Mahmoud Al Lawati.

The exhibition also features works celebrating Oman’s environment and cultural identity, including Calligraphic Composition by Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Farsi, The Village by Maryam bint Mohammed Al Zadjali and Shores of Goodness by Suhair bint Mohammed Fathi Fouda.

The exhibition sheds light on the contributions of pioneering Omani artists who played a key role in shaping the country’s contemporary art scene, while offering international audiences deeper insight into Oman’s artistic heritage and evolving creative expression.
