Muscat – Abraj Energy Services, Oman’s national champion for integrated energy services, announced on Monday that it has secured a major hydraulic fracturing services contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The new contract represents both a continuation and an upgrade of Abraj’s existing hydraulic fracturing agreement with PDO, and is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026.
The five-year contract, with an estimated value of approximately RO120mn, will be added to the company’s overall backlog, Abraj said in a disclosure filed with the Muscat Stock Exchange.
Under the expanded scope of work, the contract includes the deployment of an additional hydraulic fracturing fleet and covers more complex, high-end operations, including gas well fracturing services. This enhancement strengthens Abraj’s role in delivering advanced energy service solutions in Oman.
To support execution, Abraj said it plans to source additional equipment to scale up its existing fracturing capabilities.
Hydraulic fracturing remains a critical enabler of PDO’s upstream operations, supporting production optimisation and unlocking complex, previously inaccessible reserves.
Under the contract, Abraj will deploy advanced fracturing technologies, including optimised proppant and gelling systems, to deliver efficient, high-performance solutions aligned with PDO’s production objectives.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, PDO Managing Director Dr Aflah Al Hadhrami said, “This partnership with Abraj Energy Services brings us closer to maximising value from our assets while strengthening national capabilities and reinforcing our leading role in advancing local content in Oman. Hydraulic fracturing is essential to unlocking Oman’s hydrocarbon potential, and working with a capable national partner enables us to deliver efficient, sustainable production.”
“We are equally committed to developing Omani companies into national champions. This contract reflects our continued efforts to empower local players, enhance their technical capabilities, and position them to compete regionally and internationally,” he added.
Commenting on the award, Saif Said al Hamhami, CEO of Abraj Energy Services, said, “We are particularly pleased to have been awarded this upgraded contract by PDO, which expands our scope of work and enables us to participate in technically advanced, high-end fracturing operations. This award is a strong endorsement of PDO’s confidence in Abraj’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality, reliable services.”
Hamhami added that the award highlights Abraj’s operational strength, reinforces its role in unlocking hydrocarbon reserves, and supports the company’s long-term growth in a competitive market.
Through such partnerships, PDO continues to reinforce its role as a key contributor to Oman’s long-term energy sustainability and economic diversification, delivering value through innovation, collaboration and the development of national capabilities.
