Muscat – The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat organised a Labour awareness and Trade, Export and Investment promotion event at Nepal House on 01 May 2026, marking the special occasions of 2570th Buddha Jayanti and International Labour Day. The event focused on information dissemination and interaction related to community initiatives to promote export and investment, labour awareness, celebration of Buddha Jayanti and International Labour Day. A total of 78 participants including representatives of Nepali Social Club, Members of expert group, Nepali business persons, rescue team members and Nepali community members attended the event.
During the opening remarks, H E Dornath Aryal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman, highlighted the significance of Buddha Jayanti and teachings of Lord Buddha, the importance of labour awareness, and the need to explore opportunities in trade, export, and investment between Nepal and Oman. He also underscored the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote economic diplomacy, explore the export and investment opportunities and safeguard the welfare of Nepali workers. Ambassador Aryal congratulated all the Nepali workers on International Labour Day and extended best wishes. A brief meditation session was organized to mark the Buddha Jayanti.

Bishesh Kumar Sah, First Secretary, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the potential of trade, export, and investment, emphasizing the role of every member of the Nepali community in Oman in promoting Nepal’s economic interests. Sah explained the possible ways through which the community can play an active role in promoting the trade and exports of Nepal. Sah explored the ideas of investment at both individual and community level. Damodar Gnawali, Labour Attache made an informative presentation related to Labour Awareness including labour rights and duties as per ILO, local labour laws provisions, and practical guidance for Nepali workers in Oman.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of a handbook titled “Shramik ko Saathi (Labour’s Friend)” by Ambassador Aryal. The handbook aims to provide essential information and guidance to Nepali workers regarding safe and dignified employment in Oman. An interactive session was also held, during which participants discussed emerging issues concerning the Nepali community in Oman. Participants actively engaged in a question-and-answer session.
Earlier in the afternoon, the Embassy of Nepal organized a Facebook Live event to provide relevant information and respond to the queries raised by the Nepali workers in Oman. Bishesh Kumar Sah and Damodar Gnawali conducted the event and answered the queries received through comments in the Live Video. The Embassy intends to organise such Facebook Live events on a regular basis. Also, in the morning, a Buddha Jayanti celebration was organised by Buddha Vision Oman, in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat. During his speech, Ambassador H E Dornath Aryal extended wishes on the auspicious occasion and explained the importance of the teachings of Lord Buddha. The Embassy appreciated the active participation and valuable contributions of the community in organising such programs to create awareness as well as promote export and investment in Nepal.
