Islamabad, Pakistan – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi set off on a regional tour of Pakistan, Oman and Russia on Friday evening, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
Araghchi arrived in Muscat from Islamabad in the second-leg of the tour on Saturday evening. The tour aims to hold bilateral consultations and discuss ongoing regional developments, as well as the latest situation regarding the war.
“Purpose of my visits is to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments,” Araghchi posted on X.
“Our neighbours are our priority,” he added.

In a meeting on Saturday with Field Marshal Asim Munir, commander of the Pakistani army, Araghchi hailed the mediation efforts by Pakistan.
The two leaders discussed “the latest developments related to the ceasefire” between the US and Iran “and cooperation to strengthen peace and stability in the West Asia region”, according to a statement relayed by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Posting on X, Araghchi said he had a “very fruitful visit to Pakistan”, noting the country’s “brotherly efforts to bring back peace to our region as we very much value”.
Munir announced Pakistan’s readiness to continue mediation efforts until a result is achieved.
