Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received Jean Arnault, Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Middle East conflict, on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed developments in the Middle East, including repercussions of the Israeli-American war on Iran and efforts to reach a comprehensive solution addressing political, security, economic and humanitarian aspects.
H E Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman’s support for UN-led initiatives that prioritise peaceful and diplomatic solutions. He stressed the importance of creating conducive conditions for inclusive regional dialogue to promote de-escalation, build confidence and restore security and stability.
On his part, the UN envoy appreciated Oman’s constructive role and longstanding experience in supporting peace initiatives and mediation efforts. He commended the sultanate’s approach based on dialogue and bridging differing perspectives.
