Salalah – Preparations for the upcoming Dhofar Khareef 2026 are gathering pace in Dhofar governorate, as authorities step up coordination to ensure the region is fully prepared to welcome visitors.
A high-level meeting chaired by H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, on Thursday reviewed operational plans and readiness measures presented by government entities responsible for services during the annual tourism season.
Officials outlined preparations across key sectors, including municipal services, roads and transport, healthcare, security and tourism facilities. The plans aim to ensure smooth operations and provide visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience throughout the khareef season.
H H Sayyid Marwan stressed the importance of teamwork and close coordination among government institutions and the private sector. He said early planning and unified efforts are essential to deliver a successful season and maintain high standards of service.
The meeting also reviewed proposals to enhance tourism programmes and expand cultural and entertainment activities. These initiatives are designed to attract visitors from across Oman and abroad while highlighting Dhofar’s natural beauty and rich heritage.
Dhofar’s khareef season, known for its cool climate and lush landscapes, draws large numbers of tourists each year and remains one of the sultanate’s most important tourism periods.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination to ensure effective implementation of plans and provide integrated services for visitors.
The preparations form part of wider efforts to strengthen the position of Dhofar as a year-round tourism destination while supporting the growth of Oman’s tourism sector.
