North Sharqiyah – North Sharqiyah Governorate has officially formalised four significant development agreements aimed at transforming the urban landscapes of several wilayats. These contracts, which carry a combined investment value exceeding RO16mn, were signed in Ibra in the presence of H E Dr Khamis Saif Al Jabri, the Minister of Economy. This milestone is the direct result of the North Sharqiyah Architectural Innovation Award, an initiative launched last year to encourage creative urban design and local spatial development.

Mahmoud Yahya Al Dhuhli, the Governor of North Sharqiyah, highlighted that these projects are designed to enhance the visual and cultural identity of the region while improving the overall urban environment. Beyond aesthetic upgrades, the initiatives are expected to stimulate the local economy, showcase tourism potential, and create meaningful employment opportunities for Omani citizens. The governor noted that the selection process involved evaluating over 70 architectural designs, showcasing a strong spirit of community competition and innovation.

The specific allocations include over RO5.8mn for the Wilayat of Ibra through a partnership with Afaq for Investment and United Development Company. Furthermore, Marmul Development Company will oversee projects in Sinaw and Bidiyah, valued at RO7mn and RO2mn respectively. A final agreement worth RO1mn was signed with Afaq Al Mushrif for Development Company for the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi. These agreements mark a definitive transition from the planning phase to practical execution, establishing a foundation for sustainable growth through effective public-private partnerships.
