Muscat – Sectors of the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) are continuing coordinated efforts to address the impacts of the weather condition caused by the Al Masarrat low pressure system, while ensuring the safety of citizens and residents and expediting the restoration of essential services across affected areas.
The Relief and Shelter Sector of the NCEM said that six shelter centres are currently operational in different governorates, accommodating 138 people. Since the beginning of the weather situation, a total of 539 individuals have been provided shelter.
Meanwhile, the Basic Services Sector reported progress in restoring key services disrupted by the weather conditions. According to the latest update, 98% of asphalt roads have been restored, while restoration of dirt roads has reached 88%.
Electricity services have returned to 99% of normal capacity, while telecommunications services have reached a recovery rate of 83.7%. The sector also noted that the restoration of water and wastewater services has reached 95%, fuel supply has returned to 99%, and waste management services have reached 98%.
With regard to the health sector, the Medical Response and Public Health Sector confirmed that all health institutions across the sultanate are operating normally. The only exception is Al Mazara Health Centre in Quriyat, which remains closed until further notice after the road leading to the facility was affected by the recent weather conditions.
