Muscat-The Ministry of Interior has announced the final lists of candidates for the fourth-term municipal council elections, with 763 candidates, including 15 women.

The final lists are available through the ‘Election’ application and the official elections website, elections.om.

Under Article 41 of the regulations governing municipal council elections, candidates are permitted to begin electoral campaigning from the date the final lists are announced until the day before voting.

Ministerial Decision No. 162/2022 sets out the rules, means and procedures for electoral campaigning in elections for members of the  Majls A’ Shura Council and municipal councils.

Permitted campaigning methods include billboards, printed materials, local newspapers, social media and meetings with voters. Requests for electoral advertising must be submitted through the   “Intikhab” application or the official elections website.

The announcement marks the start of the permitted campaigning period for candidates seeking to secure voters’ support in the municipal council elections.
