Muscat – Sixty women turned up for a free mammography screening initiative organised by Europcar and Asha Enterprises from Sunday onwards. The three day event provided screening women of different nationalities as part of the Pink Month at The Diplomatic Club.

Held for the third consecutive year, the initiative aims to encourage early detection and raise awareness about the importance of regular breast examinations. The beneficiaries included Omani, American, Indian, Italian and Ukrainian women, highlighting the programme’s reach across diverse communities in Oman.

The screening was provided free of cost, with a staff member present to assist participants throughout the three-day programme.

Turkiya Al Mawaly, Customer Service Representative of Europcar, who was present during the initiative, said the programme reflected the organisers’ commitment to supporting women’s health and promoting awareness of early detection. She said, “The initiative has grown over the past three years. The first edition was held over two days, while last year’s programme ran for four days and screened 80 women. This year, the screening was conducted over three days.” She added that the By offering free access to screening, the initiative seeks to make preventive healthcare more accessible and encourage women to prioritise their health.

The mammography van, a mobile screening unit from Oman Cancer Association (OCA) that travels to different locations during October, has a busy schedule during this Pink Month.
