Muscat – Omani companies signed four strategic agreements in the pharmaceutical sector at CPhI Worldwide 2026 in Milan, Italy, in a move that underlines the sultanate’s push to build integrated pharmaceutical and medical-industry clusters.
The deals were signed at the Oman Pavilion in the presence of H E Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Vice Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and head of the Omani delegation.
Oman’s presence at the exhibition was led by OPAZ in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, represented by Oman Exports. Also taking part were the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), Sohar Freezone, Khazaen Economic City and Salalah Free Zone, along with a number of private sector companies.
The first agreement provides for a plant to produce oncology medicines at Raysut Industrial City in Dhofar. It was signed between Dhofar Pharmaceutical Industries and Iraq’s Hydrogen Oncology Pharmaceuticals. The project is intended to localise the manufacture of cancer medicines in Oman, build production capacity in specialised drugs and strengthen related supply chains.
In the second deal, Dhofar Pharmaceutical Industries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Felix Pharmaceutical Industries on industrial cooperation and integration. The MoU aims to deepen collaboration between the two companies and widen the scope of partnerships and investment in the sector.
The third agreement is an MoU between Jordan’s Sana Pharma and Oman’s National Pharmaceutical Industries covering the exchange of drug dossiers and the transfer of pharmaceutical technology. It is expected to support cooperation in developing, registering and manufacturing pharmaceutical products, and in sharing technical expertise.
The fourth agreement covers the transfer of manufacturing technology for an Omani medicine used in modern diabetes treatment to Algeria. The deal points to the growing capabilities of Oman’s pharmaceutical industry and to opportunities for exporting pharmaceutical products and technologies to regional and international markets.
The agreements reflect the practical results of Oman’s participation in CPhI Worldwide 2026 and its ability to attract specialised pharmaceutical investment to its special economic zones, free zones and industrial cities.
They also support efforts to establish dedicated clusters for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. By encouraging integration among companies in the sector, the clusters are meant to help develop local and regional value chains, strengthen pharmaceutical security and diversify Oman’s production base.
The signings form part of a wider strategy of using major international exhibitions to showcase investment opportunities in Oman and to connect Omani companies with global investors. The aim is to attract high-quality investment, transfer knowledge and technology, develop national capabilities and increase local value added.
