Manah – Thirty-nine students representing 14 nationalities explored Oman’s rich cultural heritage and tourism attractions during a programme organised in Dakhliyah governorate to mark World Tourism Day on Sunday.

The programme was organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in cooperation with the Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers.

The participants visited Al Ain and Al Sawad neighbourhoods in the wilayat of Izki, where they were introduced to traditional Omani architecture and the cultural heritage of the area.

They also visited Bait Al Ridaydah Castle in Barkat Al Mouz, gaining an insight into Oman’s architectural and historical heritage.

The programme aimed to familiarise the students with the cultural and tourism resources of Dakhliyah and highlight the governorate’s diverse heritage attractions.

The field visits provided the students with an opportunity to experience Oman’s heritage first-hand and learn more about the traditions, architecture and cultural identity reflected in the historic sites.

The initiative also highlighted the role of cultural and tourism programmes in introducing Oman’s heritage to people from different countries and promoting a deeper understanding of the sultanate’s cultural landscape.

Dakhliyah is home to a wide range of historic settlements, traditional architecture and heritage sites that reflect different aspects of Oman’s history and cultural identity.

By combining educational experiences with visits to heritage and tourism sites, the programme offered participants an opportunity to discover Oman beyond the classroom.

The initiative was held as part of activities marking World Tourism Day, which provides an opportunity to highlight tourism attractions and promote cultural exchange.
