Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s official visit to France on Sunday is expected to strengthen economic and investment ties between the two countries, with several agreements and memoranda of understanding set to be signed.

According to ONA, the agreements will focus on economic, investment and commercial cooperation, aimed at increasing trade, attracting investment and opening new avenues for partnership.

The visit comes as Oman and France continue to expand cooperation in key sectors, including renewable energy, clean energy solutions, industry, logistics, technology, tourism, infrastructure, food security and defence.

In April, the two countries held the first round of their strategic dialogue in Paris, reviewing opportunities to deepen cooperation in economic and investment sectors, energy security, education and culture.

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Araimi, Oman’s Ambassador to France, said the visit marks an important milestone in bilateral relations and reflects the commitment of both countries to strengthening strategic cooperation.

He said economic relations continue to grow, with promising opportunities in renewable energy, advanced technologies, innovation and logistics. French companies are already involved in several strategic projects in Oman, including the OQ-TotalEnergies LNG project, the Manah 1 solar project, power and water developments in Barka and Suhar, and the OmanSat-1 satellite project.

Nabil Hajlaoui, French Ambassador to Oman, said the visit would give fresh momentum to bilateral relations through the launch of major projects that will shape cooperation in the coming years.

He said agreements are expected to be signed and projects worth about US$2.25bn announced, covering sectors such as water treatment, environmental services, transport, space, technology and energy transition.

Trade between Oman and France exceeded RO100mn in 2025, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information. French imports to Oman rose to RO70.8mn, while Omani exports to France exceeded RO29mn, comprising aluminium, iron, polyethylene and pharmaceuticals, among other products.

The two countries are also working to diversify bilateral trade, increase non-oil exports and encourage greater private sector investment.
