Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP), in partnership with Al Maha Technical Inspection Company, on Tuesday inaugurated the first privately operated vehicle inspection station under the Tajdeed brand, marking the start of a plan to establish 12 inspection centres across Oman.

Located at the Oman Automobile Association premises, the centre is part of the ROP’s efforts to involve the private sector in vehicle inspection services, expand service coverage, improve customer experience and offer more flexible operating hours.

The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr Yousuf bin Salim Al Hinai, Chairman of the Government Communication and Performance Unit at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

Briga Gen Jamal bin Said Al Tai, Director General of Financial Affairs at the ROP, said the opening reflects the force’s strategy to encourage private sector investment in vehicle inspection services.

He said the ROP has signed an agreement with Al Maha Technical Inspection Company to establish 12 centres across the sultanate, alongside similar agreements with other private firms. He added that plans are in place to introduce additional public services through private sector partnerships in the future.

Eng Hamad bin Salim Al Maghdari, Managing Director of Al Maha Technical Inspection Company, said the company was established to provide technical inspection services for all types of vehicles in accordance with approved regulations while making services more accessible.

He said six additional centres are currently under construction – in Mabela and Amerat in Muscat governorate, Nizwa, Salalah and two locations in Suhar.

In addition to vehicle inspections, the centres will offer vehicle registration services in line with ROP standards and approved technical specifications. Customers will also be able to use a vehicle collection service for inspections. All facilities will be operated by qualified Omani technicians and administrative staff.

Brigadier Eng Ali Suleim Al Falahi, Director General of Traffic at the ROP, said the station has been equipped with advanced electronic systems that conduct comprehensive vehicle safety and roadworthiness checks, issue inspection certificates and automatically connect results with the Directorate General of Traffic.
