Muscat – The Indian Embassy in Muscat is actively coordinating with Omani authorities following an incident involving the Indian-flagged mechanised sailing vessel, Virat 1, off the coast of Oman. The vessel is reported to have 14 Indian crew members on board.
A search and rescue operation is currently underway off the coast of Oman following an emergency involving the Indian-flagged mechanised sailing vessel, Virat 1. The vessel, which carried 14 Indian crew members, encountered significant engine failure while navigating the waters. In a bid to ensure their safety, the crew successfully abandoned the vessel and transferred into a liferaft. Omani authorities are presently coordinating the rescue mission, working in close collaboration with various ships positioned in the vicinity to facilitate a prompt recovery of the stranded seafarers. The situation remains an active priority for all involved maritime agencies.
