Muscat- The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has seized 835 products from several commercial establishments in Dakhliyah Governorate for violating consumer protection regulations, including expired goods, unlicensed agricultural pesticides and items deemed offensive to public morals.
The seizures were made during a series of inspection and market monitoring campaigns conducted by judicial officers as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure the safety of products available in local markets.
According to the CPA, inspectors confiscated 52 expired products, 575 insecticide products classified as unlicensed agricultural items based on a report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and 105 products carrying images found to be in breach of public decency provisions under Decision No. 697/2015 of the Consumer Protection Law.
All of the offending products were removed from circulation, while administrative penalties exceeding RO600 were imposed on the violating establishments in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law, its Executive Regulations and related government decisions and circulars.
The authority said the violations were uncovered through routine inspection, investigation and surveillance campaigns targeting shops and markets across the governorate.
The CPA stressed that such enforcement drives form part of its continuous regulatory programme aimed at curbing unlawful commercial practices and preventing unsafe or non-compliant products from reaching consumers.
It also called on the public to report suspected violations through its official communication channels, highlighting the importance of community participation in strengthening consumer protection and supporting the broader objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to improve quality of life and market standards.
