Beat the heat, find a summer treat

7 Jun 2026 Summer activities in Oman to beat the heat By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – With the summer heat intensifying, what indoor or outdoor activities would you like to see more of in Oman? Here is what Muscat Daily readers said –

Mateen Ahmed, Civil engineer

To counter the summer heat, Oman would benefit immensely from more developed water-based outdoor activities. Expanding accessible water parks, organised night beach sports and evening kayaking or paddleboarding tours along our coastlines would allow people to safely enjoy the outdoors and stay active during the hotter months.

Ahmed Al Harthy, Marketing executive

During the summer months, I would love to see more indoor sports facilities and community tournaments in Oman. Activities such as badminton, table tennis and indoor football can encourage people of all ages to stay active despite the heat. Family-friendly sports events would also help strengthen social bonds and promote healthier lifestyles.

Fatma Al Balushi, Teacher

I would like to see more educational workshops, art exhibitions and reading festivals held indoors during the summer. Such activities provide children and young adults with opportunities to learn new skills while staying comfortable. Creative programmes can also help keep students engaged and productive during their school holidays.

Salim Al Hinai, Entrepreneur

More evening outdoor markets and cultural festivals would be wonderful during the summer season. Once temperatures drop after sunset, families can enjoy local food, music and handicrafts in a pleasant atmosphere. These events would support small businesses while giving residents and tourists more entertainment options.

Aisha Al Mahrouqi, Businesswoman

I hope to see more indoor wellness activities such as yoga sessions, fitness classes and health awareness programmes. Summer is often a time when people become less active due to the weather. Accessible wellness initiatives can help individuals maintain their physical and mental well-being throughout the season.

Rajesh Kumar, IT consultant

As someone who enjoys both technology and learning, I would welcome more indoor innovation fairs, gaming events and technology workshops in Oman. These activities can attract young people, encourage creativity and provide networking opportunities for professionals while offering an enjoyable escape from the summer heat.

Priya Menon, Homemaker

I would like to see more family-oriented indoor entertainment options, including interactive science centres, cultural performances and cooking workshops. Such activities allow families to spend quality time together in a comfortable environment. They also provide opportunities for residents from different backgrounds to connect and learn from one another.
