Muscat – President Duma Gideon Boko of the Republic of Botswana has confirmed his country’s intention to establish a permanent embassy in Muscat. The announcement followed high-level discussions between President Boko and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, focusing on the deepening of bilateral ties and the exploration of shared economic interests.

The two leaders engaged in comprehensive talks regarding several strategic sectors, including mining, energy production, and the development of green fuel technologies. President Boko informed that the process of opening the new diplomatic mission is currently at an advanced stage. He expressed confidence that the embassy would be fully operational before the conclusion of the current year.

Beyond diplomatic representation, the President highlighted plans to launch a direct flight connection between Muscat and the Botswana capital, Gaborone. This aviation link is intended to serve as a catalyst for enhanced economic activity and to foster closer social ties between the two nations. Furthermore, both countries are working toward formalising additional agreements in the areas of healthcare, academic exchange, and cultural heritage, marking a new chapter of comprehensive cooperation.
