12 Apr 2026 MEM launches 5 new oil, gas concessions By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) has officially launched a new bidding round for 5 oil and gas concession areas. This initiative is designed to attract both local and international petroleum companies to compete for exploration and production rights in Blocks 12, 16, 55, 42, and 45. These specific areas cover a broad geographical range and are noted for their significant geological potential.

This strategic move aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to ensure the sustainable and efficient use of the nation’s natural resources to support economic growth. The Ministry emphasised that the offering is part of a continuous effort to create a transparent and attractive investment environment. By providing equal opportunities for all bidders, the government intends to attract high-quality investments and facilitate the transfer of modern technologies to the domestic energy sector.

Interested companies are required to follow a structured application process through a dedicated digital platform: https://ldr.omanbidround.com/public/home. This process includes reviewing the available opportunities, registering, and submitting the necessary documentation to access technical data. The Ministry has confirmed that the registration period begins from April 12 and will remain open until September 30, 2026. Following the deadline, a comprehensive technical and financial evaluation will take place before the successful bidders are announced.
