Rustaq – The Governorate of South Batinah and Mwasalat have signed an agreement to develop a modern, integrated public bus station in the wilayat of Rustaq, strengthening transport infrastructure and improving mobility in the governorate.
The agreement was signed by Masoud bin Saeed Al Hashmi, Governor of South Batinah, and Bader bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat, on Tuesday.
The project will be developed on a 66,000sqm plot at a strategic location in the heart of Rustaq as part of a wider commercial development. The station is expected to enhance connectivity and support economic and service activities in the wilayat.
The initiative aligns with the public transport strategy overseen by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and supports national efforts to develop the transport sector in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the project aims to provide efficient and integrated transport services linking cities and urban centres while keeping pace with population growth and expanding urban needs.
The station will include a range of modern facilities, such as a smart taxi stand, areas for micro-mobility vehicles, air-conditioned waiting halls, bus operating platforms, offices for transport operators, commercial outlets, logistics facilities, and organised parking areas for cars and buses.
Officials said the project will enhance passenger experience, improve operational efficiency and support the long-term sustainability of public transport services in the governorate.
