Muscat – The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) has launched a humanitarian campaign to support families affected by the weather conditions associated with the Al Masarrat low pressure system.

The initiative, titled ‘We Will Strengthen You with Your Brother’, is being implemented through the ministry’s Zakat Department and Zakat committees across the sultanate. It aims to mobilise community support and provide urgent assistance to people impacted by heavy rains, flooding and damage to homes and property in several governorates.

According to the ministry, the campaign encourages individuals and institutions to contribute through the official Zakat platform. The system allows donors to select the governorate they wish to support, helping ensure that assistance reaches affected families in the targeted areas as efficiently as possible.

The ministry said the initiative reflects the spirit of solidarity and compassion that characterises Omani society, particularly during times of crisis. Funds raised through the campaign will be directed towards relief efforts, including support for families whose homes or livelihoods were affected by the recent weather disturbances.

Officials noted that the digital donation system streamlines the contribution process while ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution of assistance through official Zakat channels.
