Ministry of Labour has announced the implementation of remote working for government units and private sector establishments in several governorates on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, following warnings of heavy rainfall across parts of the Sultanate.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said the decision was taken in light of information and alerts issued by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center regarding the expected impact of heavy rains affecting a number of governorates. The move also comes in accordance with directives issued by the National Committee for Emergency Management.

Under the directive, remote work will apply to both the Civil Administrative Apparatus of the State and private sector establishments in the governorates of Muscat, North  Batinah, South  Batinah, Musandam,  Buraimi,  Dhahirah,  Dakhliyah and North  Sharqiyah.

Authorities said the measure is aimed at ensuring the safety of employees and reducing movement during the anticipated weather conditions, which may include heavy rainfall and associated hazards.

The ministry urged all institutions and employees to adhere to the directive and follow safety guidance issued by relevant authorities during the current weather situation.

The statement concluded with a prayer that the rains bring goodness and blessings to the country while emphasizing that public safety remains a collective responsibility.
