Tehran, Iran – The Iranian government has officially appointed Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr as the new Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. This high-level designation was confirmed by the President’s office and reported by the state-run IRNA news agency on Tuesday. The appointment serves as a critical move to fill the strategic vacancy left within the nation’s primary security and foreign policy body.
Zolghadr succeeds the late Ali Larijani, who served in the position until his assassination last week. The transition comes at a time of significant national focus on security infrastructure and regional stability. As the new Secretary, Zolghadr will be responsible for coordinating the council’s efforts in shaping Iran’s national security strategies and overseeing the implementation of major defence policies. The swift appointment reflects the administration’s intent to maintain administrative continuity following the recent loss of the previous council leader.
