Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received Luigi Di Maio, the European Union Special Representative for the Gulf region, at Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. The meeting provided a platform to discuss various opportunities and methods to halt ongoing conflicts within the region. Both parties examined the serious implications of these tensions on the security and stability of neighbouring states, as well as the resulting impact on international navigation and global energy supplies.

During the discussions, both officials stressed the vital importance of ensuring that regional and international efforts remain consistent and integrated. They advocated for the advancement of dialogue channels and the pursuit of peaceful and legal solutions to current crises. Furthermore, the two sides highlighted the urgent necessity of de-escalation through the cessation of military operations. This approach includes a firm commitment to the principles of international law and international humanitarian law, alongside the respect for state sovereignty.
