The Ministry of Education has announced the suspension of in-person classes and the shift to distance learning through electronic education platforms in all public and private schools, as well as universities and colleges across the Sultanate’s governorates, with the exception of Dhofar and Al Wusta.
The measure will take effect from Tuesday, March 24, 2026, and continue until Thursday, March 26, 2026. Regular classroom learning will resume on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
The decision was issued in response to a communication from the National Centre for Emergency Management regarding the impact of a weather trough affecting several governorates in the Sultanate of Oman.
The ministry said the precautionary step aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers and staff in schools and higher education institutions while weather conditions continue to affect parts of the country.
