Muscat – The Tax Authority of Oman has announced a substantial increase in tax registration and revenue collection for the fiscal year 2025, marking a transformative period for the nation’s fiscal landscape. According to the Director General of Tax Operations and Services, the number of taxpayers registered for income tax rose by 88% compared to 2021 levels. Even more pronounced growth was recorded in other sectors, with Value Added Tax (VAT) registrations increasing by 120% and Excise Tax registrations soaring by 222% over the same four-year period.

The Authority disclosed that total tax revenues for 2025 reached significant milestones, with income tax contributing RO 658 mn to the national treasury. Value Added Tax followed closely, generating RO 631 mn, while Excise Tax accounted for RO 84 mn. These figures underscore the growing efficiency of Oman’s tax administration and the broadening of its economic base.
