Muscat – The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) is expanding digital access to rehabilitation services for people with disabilities through its Ta’heel platform, which now links thousands of beneficiaries with government, private and non-profit organisations across Oman.

The ministry on Sunday organised a training workshop to introduce the system to stakeholders, with around 40 participants from NGOs, technical teams and rehabilitation professions attending. The session included a live demonstration on how to use the platform and manage applications.

Launched in 2024 with funding support from Oman LNG, Ta’heel serves as a unified portal connecting people with disabilities, their families and rehabilitation providers. It allows users to apply for services online and follow up electronically, while enabling authorities to regulate and supervise centres through a single system.

By the third quarter of 2025, 137 rehabilitation centres were registered on the platform – 39 government, 11 non-profit and 87 private. The number of beneficiaries reached 8,621, including 3,883 in government centres, 707 in non-profit facilities and 4,031 in private centres.

Access to Ta’heel requires verification via a national ID card or a guardian’s phone number. Applicants must submit approved medical reports and hold a disability card confirming eligibility for rehabilitation services.

Hamoud bin Hamad al Amri, Assistant Director of the Rehabilitation, Training and Quality Programmes Department at MoSD, said the platform is part of the ministry’s push to improve service quality through digital solutions that standardise procedures and unify service channels.

He said Ta’heel helps centres manage operations electronically under approved regulations and enables beneficiaries to submit and track requests more efficiently, supporting closer coordination with civil society groups and specialists.
