Muscat – Muscat Municipality has awarded contracts for seven residential park projects across several wilayats in the Governorate of Muscat, as part of its project plan for the current year.
The approvals were made during a meeting of the municipality’s Internal Tenders Committee, chaired by Eng Ahmed bin Saeed al Amri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, last week.
The projects aim to expand the number of neighbourhood parks, enhance the urban landscape and improve public amenities and social well-being.
The committee approved the rehabilitation of Wadi Al Kabir Park, covering 2,363sqm. The upgraded park will include children’s play areas, lighting, seating and shaded spaces.
Also approved was the rehabilitation of Al Khiran village Park, spanning 5,878sqm, and the construction of a new residential park in Al Amerat over 8,750sqm. The Al Amerat park will feature a multi-purpose sports court, shaded areas, lighting and children’s playgrounds.
Two residential parks will be developed in Al Maabela. The first will cover 7,417sqm and the second 10,091sqm. Both will include lighting, seating areas, shaded spaces, multi-purpose courts and children’s play areas. One of the parks will also feature a café and public restrooms.
The meeting further approved a residential park in Quriyat, covering 7,698sqm, and the development of Al Rawiyah Park in Muscat, with an area of 251sqm. Al Rawiyah Park will include green spaces, a play area and seating facilities.
Commenting on the projects, Amri said, “The implementation of residential neighbourhood park projects reflects Muscat Municipality’s commitment to enhancing the visual character of residential areas and providing modern infrastructure in line with urban expansion and sustainable development across the governorate.”
He added, “These efforts align with Oman Vision 2040 by promoting human-centred cities, increasing green coverage and ensuring the optimal use of available land to deliver sustainable services to residents.”
Muscat Municipality said the projects underscore its focus on creating healthy and attractive urban environments, strengthening social cohesion and encouraging active lifestyles across the Governorate of Muscat.
