Musandam – Bukha Carnival opened on Tuesday evening in the wilayat of Bukha as part of the Winter of Musandam programme, under the patronage of Sheikh Dr Saif bin Mohammed al Ghaithi, Wali of Bukha. The carnival will continue until January 31.
The event is organised to boost tourism activity and strengthen the cultural and heritage profile of Bukha, while offering families and visitors recreational activities during the winter season.
Ahmed bin Mohammed al Shihi, a member of the Events and Programmes Committee, said the opening ceremony featured traditional and artistic performances, including Al Maydan war dance displays and folklore performances by the Al Nojoom troupe. The programme also included entertainment shows, a live demonstration of traditional Omani halwa-making, and recreational competitions with prize draws.

Shihi said the carnival presents a varied daily programme at the festival arena and theatre corner, featuring roaming performances, Al Barah and Al Razha folk arts, traditional games and the heritage show ‘The Neighbours’ Wedding’. Activities for children and families are also part of the programme.
He added that the Bukha Carnival aims to enhance community participation, support folk troupes and local artisans, and highlight the tourism and cultural assets of the wilayat, contributing to local economic activity and advancing tourism development objectives in Musandam governorate.
