Adam – The ninth edition of the Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival will begin on February 2 at the Al Bashayer Camel Racetrack in Adam, Dakhliyah. The six-day event is expected to draw wide participation from camel owners across Oman and other GCC countries.
H H Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, said the festival enjoys the continued support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who patronises camel racing as a key element of Omani heritage.

He noted that camel racing is a tradition passed down through generations, with ongoing efforts to preserve the Omani breed of purebred camels, which continue to excel in competitions in and outside the sultanate.
H H Sayyid Asaad said the directives of His Majesty to safeguard this heritage are appreciated by specialists and those involved in the sport, reinforcing confidence in its future.
He added that the annual festival is organised in recognition of its role in preserving national heritage and in strengthening social bonds, promoting interaction and harmony among different segments of society.
