Muscat – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will arrive in the sultanate on Wednesday, January 14 on an official visit at the invitation of the Omani leadership, the Italian Embassy in Muscat stated on Monday.

The visit marks the first foreign leader His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will receive in 2026, underscoring the strategic importance both countries attach to their bilateral relations.

During the visit, the prime minister will hold official talks with His Majesty the Sultan, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening cooperation across political, economic and strategic spheres. The talks are also set to explore opportunities to expand bilateral ties, particularly in areas of mutual interest.

The high-level visit reflects the growing momentum in Oman–Italy relations and highlights the shared commitment of both sides to deepening cooperation on regional and international issues.
