Significant decline in temperatures expected across Oman

30 Dec 2025 decline in temperatures expected across Oman By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a weather report indicating that Oman will be influenced by a cold air mass beginning on Tuesday, December 30. This meteorological shift is expected to trigger a noticeable decline in minimum temperatures across governorates, accompanied by a marked increase in wind activity.

According to the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, the mercury is projected to fall significantly compared to recorded temperatures on Monday. In particular, the mountainous region of Jabal Shams is forecast to see temperatures plummet to 1.5°C, while Muscat and Suhar are expected to drop to 16°C. Other regions, such as Haima and Ibri, will experience lows of 11°C and 10°C respectively.

Beyond the thermal decline, the authorities have warned of several associated weather phenomena including active winds that may strengthen periodically and a reduction in horizontal visibility. Maritime conditions are also expected to be affected, with rough seas forecast along various stretches of the Omani coastline. This atmospheric transition coincides with the movement of a low-pressure trough away from the region by December 31, allowing the cold air mass to settle over the peninsula.
