Muscat – Oman’s national esports team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup finals in Rocket League to be held in Riyadh from December 15 to 19. It marks a major milestone in the growth of the esports sector in the sultanate.

The achievement underscores the rapid development of competitive gaming in Oman and highlights the strong support extended to young national talent striving to compete on the world stage.

The team – consisting of Sultan al Balushi, Amjad al Zadjali and Abdullah al Amri – ranks among the elite globally, with all three players positioned within the top 0.01 per cent of Rocket League competitors worldwide. Their campaign has been guided by coach Abdullah al Atiqi, under whose supervision they underwent a structured professional training programme.

Oman clinched their spot in the finals following strong performance in the official West Asia qualifiers, where they defeated the Jordanian national team in a decisive match. A series of good showings in local, regional and international tournaments further improved their global standing, earning them a place among the top 16 national teams competing in Riyadh.
