Muscat – The Omani Society for Writers and Literati (OSWL) will honour winners of its literary and cultural awards at the 15th edition of its annual ceremony to be held under the patronage of H E Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.
The event on December 11 at 7pm at the OSWL headquarters in Airport Heights, will celebrate outstanding writers, researchers and cultural figures whose works have enriched Oman’s literary landscape.
The ceremony will see the announcement of winners of the Best Publications competition covering six categories: short story, novel, popular poetry, literary studies, intellectual books and a special honour for cultural achievement. Winners in this category are chosen through arbitration committees.
The Cultural Achievement Award recognises prominent personalities, initiatives and projects that have made a significant impact on the cultural scene in Oman. Recipients in this category are selected by a decision of OSWL’s board of directors.
In addition, the society will honour writers with distinguished records of contribution in culture, literature and the sciences.
