Nizwa Public Park to feature 3,900 plants, educational medicinal garden and artificial lake

30 Nov 2025 Governor assesses progress on Nizwa Public Park development

Nizwa – As part of ongoing field inspections, Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, accompanied by Municipal Council members, recently toured the Nizwa Public Park site to assess progress and ensure contractors’ compliance with approved technical standards.

The delegation reviewed ongoing works, including pedestrian pathways, the artificial lake, children’s play areas and service facilities. They also followed up on the development of green spaces and the educational medicinal garden.

The landscaping plan includes more than 3,920 plants, comprising 520 shade trees and 3,400 flowering shrubs, aimed at enriching green cover and strengthening the environmental dimension of urban development across the governorate. The project also features 13 investment opportunities — six awarded to date, with the rest under tendering and evaluation. These are expected to support public–private partnerships and the sustainable operation of park facilities.

Envisioned as a major recreational and tourism asset for Dakhliyah residents, the park forms part of wider efforts to enhance municipal and development services, contributing to improved quality of life and added value for the region.

Nizwa Public Park’s contemporary design caters to all age groups and draws inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape. It incorporates children’s playgrounds, sports and fitness areas, picnic zones and dedicated sites for investment projects. The layout includes a lake, fountain, wide seating areas, a local producers’ market and a ‘picnic forest’ featuring open spaces, family areas and tree houses for children.

An educational medicinal garden showcasing therapeutic plants forms another key component, serving as a learning space for students and the community. The design also includes relaxation areas, a library and additional facilities that promote cultural and intellectual engagement.
