Zurich, Switzerland – The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has confirmed the implementation of the expanded “FIFA Series 2026”, scheduled to take place during the international match windows in March and April of the coming year. This initiative is designed to offer national teams from various continental confederations a unique platform for competition and collaboration, moving beyond traditional geographical boundaries.

Following a successful pilot in March 2024, the 2026 series will feature wider participation from national associations, an increased number of host countries, and, for the first time, a dedicated women’s edition. This strategic expansion is intended to facilitate valuable international fixtures and contribute directly to the technical development of football across the globe, aligning with FIFA’s 2023-2027 objectives.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the series seeks to provide growth opportunities for players, coaches, and supporters alike while promoting the global and inclusive dimension inherent in the sport.

The men’s segment of the tournament will include matches hosted by nations such as Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, and Uzbekistan, with further additions possible. The inaugural women’s series will commence in Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire, and Thailand, with the comprehensive list of participating and hosting countries due to be unveiled in early 2026. The proposal for the FIFA Series was originally ratified by the FIFA Council in December 2022.
