Muscat – Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has invited bids for the long-anticipated Bausher-Amerat tunnel project under the design-build-finance-operate-transfer model, as part of efforts to improve connectivity between Muscat and the interior regions.
The ministry said the project, one of the most awaited infrastructure developments in the country, aims to ease traffic congestion and improve the flow of vehicles between the wilayats of Bausher and Amerat. The tunnel is expected to reduce travel time, enhance safety and offer a modern transit route for daily commuters.
The project is part of a broader strategy to attract private sector participation in developing roads and expanding the national transport network. Alongside the Bausher- Amerat tunnel, MTCIT has also offered the Amerat-Dima Wa al Taien Road and the Mabelah–Thumayd Road for investment.
MTCIT has set February 23 as the deadline for submitting bids and invited both local and international companies to present proposals in accordance with the tender specifications.
According to the ministry, these projects reflect Oman’s commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships and adopting sustainable approaches to infrastructure development in line with the sultanate’s economic growth objectives.
