Manama, Bahrain – Oman’s national junior golf team advanced to the final stages of the Asian Youth Games 2025, currently being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. After two competitive days of play, the Omani team successfully made the cut to progress further in the prestigious continental event.
Representing Oman are Mahir Sampat, Adam al Barwani, and Pransh Jagwani, who have demonstrated exceptional focus, composure, and determination throughout the tournament. Competing against top junior golfers from across Asia, Team Oman continue to build on their recent momentum and international experience.
The team triumphed earlier this year at the GCC Golf Championship in Saudi Arabia, where they secured the team gold, marking a historic achievement for Omani golf. Their performance at the Asian Youth Games reinforces their reputation as one of the region’s most promising junior squads.
The Asian Youth Games, organised under the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), bring together the continent’s most talented young athletes across various sporting disciplines, providing a valuable platform for junior players to gain international exposure and experience.
The team is guided by Jonathan Bartlett, Head Coach and Golf Programs Director, whose leadership and expertise continue to play a vital role in developing Oman’s next generation of golfers through high-performance training and structured development pathways.
Nikhil Sampat and Ahmed al Jhadhamy are accompanying the delegation in Bahrain, representing the Oman Golf Association and providing leadership and support to the players throughout the Games.
Al Jhadhamy, representing the Oman Golf Association, praised the team’s achievement, stating: “We are extremely proud of our young golfers for qualifying for the final stages of the Asian Youth Games. Mahir, Adam, and Pransh have shown great focus, determination, and professionalism while competing against some of Asia’s finest junior players. Their continued success — following their gold medal at the GCC Championship — reflects the growing strength of youth golf in Oman and the impact of our long-term development programs. We look forward to seeing them continue to represent the Sultanate with pride.”
The participation and progress of Team Oman at the Asian Youth Games underscore the Oman Golf Association’s commitment to nurturing young golfers through structured programs, elite coaching, and international competition. Their advancement to the final stages is a testament to the depth of talent emerging from Oman and the bright future of the sport within the Sultanate.
