Boost for emergency care as Sohar Hospital gets CPR Training Centre

Suhar – The Directorate General of Health Services in North Batinah, under the Ministry of Health (MoH), has inaugurated a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Centre at Sohar Hospital, established with funding support from Sohar Aluminium.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Salem al Mandhari, Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation at MoH, in the presence of senior officials and representatives from health institutions across the governorate.

Ahmed bin Mohammed al Kharousi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, said the centre reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Oman’s healthcare sector as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy. “This project is one of our key sustainable initiatives this year, and it demonstrates our belief that investing in people and developing their skills is essential for a sustainable future,” he said.

He added that strengthening the emergency response capabilities of healthcare professionals is a vital objective of the centre. “Training medical personnel in life-saving procedures such as CPR ensures readiness and builds confidence to respond effectively in critical situations,” he noted.

Dr Talib bin Khamis al Muqbali, Director of Sohar Hospital, described the centre as a significant addition to health services in North Batinah. “The new CPR Training Centre will expand the scope of professional training for medical and nursing staff, contributing to improved emergency care and patient outcomes,” he said.

Built on an area of 450sqm, the facility includes three training classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, administrative offices and support areas. It is equipped to provide certified CPR and emergency response courses that meet international standards in quality and medical safety.

The centre will serve healthcare professionals from Sohar Hospital and other health institutions in North Batinah, as well as participants from community and private sector organisations. Officials noted that the initiative will enhance emergency preparedness across the governorate and strengthen community resilience by promoting life-saving skills.
