On the occasion of Omani Women’s Day (October 17), a section of ladies from different professions share their aspirations and concerns about the strong role of women in Oman in upcoming years
Muscat – Every year on October 17, Oman pauses to celebrate a remarkable force that continues to shape its progress — its women. Omani Women’s Day is more than a date on the calendar, it is a tribute to the dreams, resilience, and achievements of women who are redefining what it means to contribute to a modern nation while honouring its deep-rooted traditions.
From classrooms to corporate boardrooms, from laboratories to leadership roles in government and community life, Omani women today stand as symbols of confidence and capability. Their growing presence in science, entrepreneurship, art, education, social initiatives and government bodies reflects a national vision that values equality and empowerment as key drivers of development.
This year’s celebration carries a renewed sense of purpose — not just to look back with pride, but to look ahead with determination. The voices featured in this article — women from diverse walks of life — capture the evolving story of empowerment in Oman. Together, their experiences and reflections offer a glimpse into how Omani women continue to inspire progress, nurture families, lead change, and light the way for future generations.

On the occasion of Omani Women’s Day, I proudly reflect on the vital role Omani women play in shaping our nation’s progress. From policy and governance to innovation and entrepreneurship, women are key partners in building Oman’s future.
My aspiration is to see even greater female participation in strategic decision-making, economic diversification, and leadership across all sectors. Empowered by education, vision, and opportunity, Omani women will continue to be a driving force in achieving sustainable national development under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

On Omani Women’s Day, I feel proud of the remarkable progress Omani women have achieved in education, art, and leadership. My aspiration is to see more women express their individuality through creativity and entrepreneurship, contributing meaningfully to society while following their passions fearlessly. I hope the future brings stronger support systems that help women balance personal and professional growth.
My concern is that some talented women may still face barriers that limit their potential. With continued encouragement, mentorship, and opportunities, I believe, Omani women will keep shaping a brighter, more inclusive, and inspiring future for our nation.

On this Omani Women’s Day, my heart swells with gratitude and pride. If I were given a thousand chances to choose where to belong, I would still choose to be Omani — and to be an Omani woman. Omani women carry the fragrance of our land, the warmth of our hearts, and the strength of our history. We rise with grace, guided by our faith and love for our country. My hope is that every Omani woman continues to dream boldly, lead with compassion, and illuminate the future with her light.

I am proud to be an Omani woman from this beautiful and generous land. I deeply appreciate the diversity that defines Oman — from our traditional attire and flavourful cuisine to the richness of our dialects. My recent focus has been on community and volunteer work, and through my fellowship research on why some women refrain from joining the Omani Women’s Association in Buraimi.
I was inspired to learn that organised volunteerism in Oman was initiated by women themselves. I truly hope to see renewed vitality within these associations, stronger unity among women, and greater empowerment through collective voices that advance the role of Omani women in society. Proud to celebrate Omani Women’s Day and to continue the journey of empowerment and inspiration.

The designation of October 17 as a day to celebrate Omani women is a great honour and a tribute from our beloved (Late) Sultan Qaboos – may God rest his soul. This reflects the high esteem in which women are held in various fields and domains. On this special occasion, I wish Omani women continued empowerment and opportunities to thrive.
My aspiration is for women in Oman to have equal access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, enabling them to reach their full potential. May Omani women continue to break barriers and inspire future generations. I hope for a bright future for Omani women, where they play a leading role in shaping our country’s progress and prosperity, with their voices heard and valued. Wishing all Omani women a bright and empowered future!”

On the occasion of Omani Women’s Day, I envision a future where Omani women continue to thrive with confidence, purpose, and pride. As a medical personnel, I witness daily the strength, resilience, and compassion that define our women – qualities that drive progress in every field.
My aspiration is for continued empowerment through education, innovation, and leadership, so that every woman can fulfill her potential without barriers. Yet, I fear that complacency may hinder our journey forward. Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to growth and unity, ensuring that Omani women continue to illuminate the path of excellence for generations to come.

For me, independence is everything. I want every Omani woman to stand on her own, not rely on anyone else. The Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and His Majesty Sultan Haitham paved the way for us to be educated and have opportunities in the workplace. I’ve worked abroad and in Oman, and I see incredible opportunities here.
The only obstacle we face is our mindset. Even global experts like Simon Sinek say women make better leaders because of our empathy, care, and social understanding. Independence and education together will always make Omani woman stand out.

On Omani Women’s Day, I celebrate the incredible journey of Omani women – our courage, creativity, and resilience. I hope to see even more women step into the world of business with confidence, not only as entrepreneurs but as visionaries shaping the future of our economy and communities. Yet, I also hope we find balance – not only between work and life, but within ourselves. We often strive for perfection, forgetting that our true power lies in authenticity, growth, and self-belief.
As Omani women, we have the strength and wisdom to redefine what success looks like – rooted in our values, yet open to innovation and change. My hope for the future is that every woman in Oman feels empowered to pursue her ambitions boldly, while also being kind to herself along the way.
