Muscat – The Oman Football Association (OFA), through its Women’s Football Committee and in cooperation with REFCO Oman, has launched an open football tournament for girls in celebration of Omani Women’s Day.
Running until October 16, the tournament brings together nine teams from public and private academies, schools, and community groups. Matches are played in two age categories: under 16 and general.
The tournament seeks to promote the culture of football among girls in Oman, while encouraging family support for female participation in sports. Organisers emphasised the importance of football in contributing to physical health, mental wellbeing, and social inclusion.
It also forms part of OFA’s broader efforts to build a sustainable community sports culture, nurture emerging talent, and provide platforms for young athletes to develop their skills and represent Oman at regional and international levels.
The tournament reflects the growing momentum in women’s football in Oman and aims to further its reach in line with the country’s vision for inclusive sports development.
