Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) Forensic Science Laboratory and Fingerprints Department has received international accreditation from the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC), confirming compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — a globally recognised standard for testing and calibration laboratories.
This milestone reflects the laboratory’s commitment to quality, technical competence, and reliability in forensic testing and analysis. The accreditation, effective from September 27, 2025, was granted after the lab met all technical and administrative requirements, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of forensic reports submitted to judicial and security bodies.
ISO/IEC 17025 is one of the most important international quality benchmarks in laboratory work, focusing on precision, safety, and the continual improvement of operations and systems.
The accreditation highlights ROP’s ongoing efforts to modernize its forensic infrastructure through the adoption of advanced technologies and specialised training — a step forward in strengthening justice and security in line with international standards.
